CLARITY SOCIAL – PRIVACY POLICY
Effective Date: March 2, 2026
Last Updated: April 8, 2026
This Privacy Policy describes how Clarity Social, Inc. ("Clarity Social," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, stores, and discloses information about you when you access or use the Clarity Social platform, including our website, applications, and related services (the "Service"). By using the Service, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with this Policy, you must not use the Service.
1. Information We Collect
1.1 Account Information. When you create an account, we collect your email address and a password (which is hashed and never stored in plaintext). Your authentication is managed through Supabase Auth.
1.2 Profile Information. During onboarding and profile setup, you may provide your first name, last name, username, date of birth, profile avatar, cover image, bio, location, website URL, and account privacy setting (public or private). Your date of birth is used to verify you meet the minimum age requirement of 13 years and is not displayed publicly.
1.3 Content You Post. We collect any content you upload or share through the Service, including photos, videos, captions, comments, reactions, and shared posts. This content is stored in our infrastructure (Supabase storage and database) and may be visible to other users depending on your privacy settings.
1.4 Direct Messages. We collect and store the content of direct messages you send to and receive from other users. Messages are stored in our database and are not end-to-end encrypted. You should not transmit sensitive personal or financial information via messages.
1.5 Usage and Behavioral Data. We collect information about how you interact with the Service, including posts you view, content you like or react to, accounts you follow or friend, searches you perform, and other actions you take on the platform. This data is used to power recommendations, safety systems, and to improve the Service. We also use session replay technology (PostHog) to record navigation and interaction patterns such as clicks, scrolls, and page visits. Passwords and sensitive form inputs are never recorded. This data is used solely to improve the platform.
1.6 Device and Technical Information. We and our service providers (including Vercel) may automatically collect certain technical information when you access the Service, such as your IP address, browser type and version, operating system, device identifiers, referring URLs, and general geographic location derived from your IP address.
1.7 Problem Reports and Feedback. If you submit a problem report or feedback, we collect the content of your report and any attachments you choose to include (such as screenshots or media files).
1.8 Game Activity. If you use the in-app games (such as Ascend, Converge, Serpentine, or Whacky Bird), we collect your game scores and participation data, which may be displayed on public leaderboards.
1.9 Moderation and Safety Data. We collect information related to reported content, content verification status, and moderation decisions in order to enforce our Terms of Use and keep the platform safe.
2. How We Use Your Information
2.1 To Provide and Operate the Service. We use your information to create and maintain your account, display your profile and content to other users, enable you to communicate with other users, and to deliver the core features of the platform.
2.2 Recommendations and Personalization. We use your behavioral data (views, likes, follows, interactions) to personalize the content shown to you and to recommend accounts, posts, and features you may find relevant.
2.3 Machine Learning and AI Development. As described in our Terms of Use, we may use your content and behavioral data to develop, train, and improve algorithms, machine learning models, content recommendation systems, ranking systems, safety and moderation technologies, and other features of the Service. We may also use aggregated, de-identified, or anonymized data derived from your use of the Service for analytics, research, and product development, even after your account is closed, to the extent permitted by applicable law.
2.4 Safety and Content Moderation. We use your information to detect and prevent prohibited content (including AI-generated visual content and policy violations), investigate reports, enforce our Terms of Use, and protect the safety and integrity of the Service and its users.
2.5 Analytics and Service Improvement. We use aggregate and technical data to understand how the Service is used, identify bugs, measure performance, and improve the user experience.
2.6 Communications. We may use your email address to send you service-related notifications, security alerts, and updates about the Service. We do not send unsolicited marketing emails.
2.7 Legal Compliance. We may use your information to comply with applicable laws, respond to lawful requests from government authorities, enforce our agreements, and protect the rights, property, or safety of Clarity Social, our users, and the public.
3. How We Share Your Information
3.1 With Other Users. Your profile information (name, username, avatar, bio, and public content) is visible to other users of the Service. If your account is set to public, your posts and profile are visible to all users. If set to private, visibility is limited to approved followers or friends, depending on Service functionality.
3.2 Service Providers. We share your information with third-party vendors and service providers that help us operate the Service. These providers are authorized to use your information only as necessary to provide services to us and are subject to confidentiality obligations. Our primary providers are described in Section 4 below.
3.3 Legal Requirements. We may disclose your information if we believe in good faith that disclosure is required by applicable law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Clarity Social, our users, or the public.
3.4 Business Transfers. If Clarity Social is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, bankruptcy, or sale of all or a portion of our assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you via email or a prominent notice on the Service if your information becomes subject to a different privacy policy as a result.
3.5 No Sale of Personal Information. We do not sell your personal information to third parties for money or other valuable consideration.
4. Third-Party Service Providers
We rely on the following primary third-party service providers to operate the Service:
Supabase. We use Supabase to provide authentication services, database storage (including your profile, posts, messages, and other data), and file storage (including your uploaded images and videos). Supabase processes and stores your data on our behalf. Supabase's privacy practices are governed by the Supabase Privacy Policy.
Vercel. We use Vercel to host and deploy the Service. Vercel may collect technical information such as IP addresses and request logs as part of its infrastructure services. We also use Vercel Analytics to collect aggregate, anonymous usage data. Vercel's privacy practices are governed by the Vercel Privacy Policy.
PostHog. We use PostHog to collect analytics and session replay data, including page views, user interactions, and navigation behavior. PostHog's privacy practices are governed by the PostHog Privacy Policy.
5. Children's Privacy (COPPA)
The Service is not directed to children under 13 years of age, consistent with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act ("COPPA"). We require all users to be at least 13 years old and collect date of birth to verify this requirement during onboarding. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under 13 without verified parental consent, we will delete that information and the associated account as promptly as possible.
If you are between 13 and 17 years old, your parent or legal guardian must have reviewed and consented to these Terms and this Privacy Policy on your behalf. Parents or guardians who believe their minor child has registered an account without consent may contact us to request removal.
6. Data Retention
We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you with the Service.
6.1 Deactivated Accounts. If you deactivate your account, your profile and content will be hidden from other users, but your data will be retained and your account can be reactivated at any time by logging back in.
6.2 Deleted Accounts. If you request permanent deletion of your account, your account will enter a 30-day pending deletion period. During this period, your profile and content are hidden, but you may cancel the deletion and restore your account at any time. After the 30-day period expires, your account and associated personal data will be permanently purged from our systems, except where retention is required or permitted by law (for example, to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, or enforce our agreements).
Aggregated and de-identified data derived from your use of the Service may be retained indefinitely for analytics and product development purposes, as it can no longer reasonably be used to identify you.
When your account is permanently deleted, all content you have shared — including posts, comments, likes, and interactions — will be removed from our platform. Other users will no longer be able to see any content associated with your account.
7. Security
We take reasonable administrative, technical, and physical measures to protect your personal information from unauthorized access, use, alteration, or disclosure. These measures include encrypted data transmission (HTTPS), hashed password storage, role-based access controls through Supabase Row Level Security, and access restrictions to production systems.
However, no method of transmission over the Internet or method of electronic storage is completely secure. We cannot guarantee the absolute security of your information, and you use the Service at your own risk. If you believe your account has been compromised, please contact us immediately.
8. Your Rights and Choices
8.1 Access and Correction. You may access and update your profile information at any time through your account settings. If you believe any information we hold about you is inaccurate, please contact us to request correction.
8.2 Account Deactivation and Deletion. You may deactivate or permanently delete your account directly from the Danger Zone section of your account settings. Deactivation hides your account and can be reversed at any time. Deletion initiates a 30-day pending period during which you may cancel; after 30 days, your account and personal data are permanently purged, subject to our data retention obligations.
8.3 California Residents (CCPA/CPRA). If you are a California resident, you have the right to: (a) know what personal information we collect, use, disclose, and sell; (b) request deletion of your personal information, subject to certain exceptions; (c) opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information (we do not sell personal information); (d) correct inaccurate personal information; and (e) not be discriminated against for exercising your rights. To exercise these rights, please contact us using the information in Section 11. We will respond to verifiable consumer requests within 45 days, as required by law.
8.4 European and UK Residents (GDPR/UK GDPR). If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA) or the United Kingdom, you have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict processing of, and port your personal data, as well as the right to object to certain processing. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. Our legal basis for processing your data is primarily performance of a contract (providing the Service to you) and our legitimate interests in operating and improving the Service. To exercise your rights, contact us at the address below.
8.5 Do Not Track. The Service does not currently respond to browser "Do Not Track" signals, as there is no uniform standard for how such signals should be interpreted.
9. Cookies and Tracking
We use cookies and similar tracking technologies to operate and maintain your session on the Service, authenticate you, remember your preferences (such as your theme setting), and for security purposes. Our authentication provider (Supabase) sets session cookies necessary for the Service to function. Vercel Analytics uses privacy-preserving, cookieless analytics to measure aggregate traffic to the Service.
You can configure your browser to refuse cookies or to alert you when cookies are being sent. However, if you disable cookies, some parts of the Service may not function correctly.
10. Links to Third-Party Sites
The Service may contain links to third-party websites or services. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites, and this Privacy Policy does not apply to them. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of any third-party sites you visit.
